After a tough regional race last year, Cincinnati came into this year with higher expectations. The weather was looking prime and the course was looking decently flat. Everything looked clear to have a solid race!
On the men's side, UC would bring it's top 7 very close together with the absence of Jeff Griffiths. A new face would lead the team in Steven Zombory (28:07, 33rd). This mark would also be good enough to place in the top 10 all-time! Following close behind would be Kyle Klingler (28:14, 35th), and to finish out the top 5 would be a tight pack of Joey Stimler (28:32, 45th), Jack Randall (28:33, 46th), and Sean Kane (28:33, 47th). Also making the top 7 would be Sean Batt (28:58, 60th) and Bryan Wilson (29:08, 62nd). This would place the guys in 7th as a team.
On the women's side, there were quite a bit of timing and placing errors. However Magen Brailey (24:57, 22nd) would lead the team followed by Alex Ballinger (26:26, 39th). Hannah Beitzinger (27:56, 72nd) and Catherine Fadden (28:14, 77th) would finish closely to bring up 3rd and 4th. The timing errors affected Gabby Bobadilla and Lily Dellers results so we do not have the official time and placing there. Besides that, great job!
Although regionals wasn't as great as we expected due to errors with results and the course being measured long, we look ahead to the National meet on November 14th. We expect to have our best showing ever with the biggest team in history! Shock the world!
