The UC Running Club once again started their season off at the annual Queen City Invitational in Mason, OH. This meet is run by the UC Varsity team and featured a 6k event for both Men and Women this year. All participants from the club had an outstanding showing!
On the men's side, the club finished in 8th place out of 12 NCAA teams. New member Jeff Griffiths was the first finisher for the club with a blazing time of 19:01. That was good enough for 13th place. The rest of the top 5 were as follows: Sean Kane (20:39, 66th), Joey Stimler (20:56, 73rd), Michael Christman (20:59, 77th), and Bryan Wilson (21:02, 79th).
As for the women, they were able to score as team! This is very exciting as they narrowly missed the ability to score for all of last season. They finished 11th overall out of 14 teams. The first finisher was also a new member, Magen Brailey. She completed the course in 24:29 and that was good for 48th place. The rest of the top 5 were as follows: Gabby Bobadilla (26:10, 89th), Hannah Beitzinger (26:57, 100th), Alex Ballinger (27:24, 104th), and Lily Deller (29:25, 114th).
Great job to everyone! Especially the new members already making a name for themselves! We look forward to our next meet, and first NIRCA race, on September 26th at MC5!
