The Great Lakes Regional is a race that offered a lot of competition, but also a lot of difficulty. The weather conditions were terrible to run in and the results showed. However, UC managed to finish decent without some of their runners.
One the women's side, Juliana Madzia (24:21, 12th) solidified herself as one of the areas best club runners with a top 20 finish. The rest of the girls were as follows: Alex Ballinger (26:42, 55th), Hannah Beitzinger (26:48, 57th), and Gabby Bobadilla (30:14, 104th). Although they could not score as a team, they finished pretty well to get ready for Nationals.
For the men, Alexander Chappars (27:22, 17th) was well ahead of everyone else on the team. Jack Randall (29:23, 68th) was the second male once again for UC, despite being quite a bit slower than normal. The rest of the men were as follows: Bryan Wilson (29:30, 71st), Daniel Scurry (29:39, 75th), Stephen Pair (30:37, 97th), Kyle Kastrup (31:33, 119th), and Nick Kienzle (34:40, 149th). The men finished in 8th place out of 11. Well behind Miami University, who they beat earlier in the season at MC5. Although it was a rough race, everyone has high hopes for Nationals in two weeks!
